Start in the sandbox

Try Orchestration with orch-sandbox before creating a live media buy.

Start with orch-sandbox when learning the tools, connecting a new buyer agent, or testing a buying workflow.

No billable media buy. Using the orch-sandbox MCP connection won't create a billable media buy. Use it to practice before moving to the live orchestration connection.

How it works

You sign in with your real ClearLine buyer account. The orch-sandbox connection limits product discovery and selection for new buys to supply from the sandbox publisher. That supply lets you exercise the buying workflow without spending real money.

Creating a sandbox buy can create real campaign objects in your ClearLine account. The non-billable behavior comes from using the sandbox publisher's supply. Existing campaigns and creatives remain part of your real account, so use the buys and creatives intended for your sandbox work.

Connect to orch-sandbox

  1. Open sandbox client setup, select orch-sandbox, and choose your client. Copy its exact gateway URL and generated setup steps. If it is not listed, ask your Magnite contact for the sandbox connection URL.
  2. Add it as a separate MCP connection named orch-sandbox, using Streamable HTTP. Keep that name visible so your agent can distinguish it from the live connection.
  3. Sign in and select your real ClearLine buyer account. That account must have access to the sandbox publisher.
  4. Discover the available tools. Call get_adcp_capabilities, then get_products with buying_mode: "wholesale" and pagination: { "max_results": 5 } to verify a bounded product read.

An authentication or tool error is not a successful verification.

If you don't see products

Confirm that you selected the intended ClearLine buyer account. Ask your Magnite contact to make the sandbox publisher available to that account, then call get_products again. Sandbox discovery respects your buyer account's publisher access.

Practice a buying workflow

Use the buying workflow as a guide: discover products, inspect the returned IDs and pricing options, and practice creating and inspecting a media buy using the tools advertised by the sandbox. Use product and buy IDs returned by this connection for subsequent calls.

You can start with this prompt:

Use only the orch-sandbox MCP connection. Discover its capabilities and show me up to five products. Help me choose a product and prepare a test media buy using the required inputs. Keep every tool call on orch-sandbox.

Then supply your test advertiser, budget, and flight dates to exercise creation and follow-up operations. Sandbox results help you check your agent's tool sequence and handling of responses; they do not establish live inventory availability or delivery readiness.

Move to live buying deliberately

When you are ready to create a live buy, add the separate live Orchestration connection, select the intended ClearLine buyer account, and repeat capability and product discovery there. Use the live connection's returned IDs and confirm the advertiser, budget, products, and flight before creating the buy.

The live orchestration connection uses the inventory available for live buying and can create billable media buys. Both connections use your real ClearLine account; orch-sandbox uses the sandbox publisher's supply to avoid spending real money. Use each connection's exact supplied URL; adding a query parameter to a live gateway URL does not select the sandbox.
